Indonesian MER-C Leaves for Gaza


The Indonesian Medical Emergency Rescue Committee" (MER-C) Indonesia on Wednesday night had sent a construction team to the Gaza Strip in Palestine, to follow up on an Indonesian hospital construction program in Bayt Lahiya, North Gaza.
"This time the team is part of a construction team the complete the construction of an Indonesian hospital in Gaza. They consisted of five volunteers leaving tonight for Cairo by Singapore Airlines," head of presidium of the Indonesian MER-C dr Sarbini Abdul Murad said here Wednesday night.
He said the team is led by Ir Faried Thalib, who is also chairman of the MER-C construction division,and the target of the delegation is to decide on the winner of a tender for the Indonesian hospital in Gaza. Right now there were already five interested high-class contractors in Gaza.
He stated the volunteers from Jakarta will later join the two already in Cairo, so that their total will be seven. According to him, the Palestinian Health Ministry has even sent a special invitation to the MER-C construction team to come to Gaza to speed up the building of the Indonesian hospital who had made such promise to the Palestine in 2009.
