Key to Indonesian Handicrafts' Success in Markets

Creativity was the key to the success of Indonesian handicrafts penetration into both the domestic and international markets, Vice President Boediono said on Wednesday.
"The creative designs of handicrafts and their reasonable prices will attract both domestic and foreign buyers," the vice president said at a function to open "The 13th Jakarta International Handicrafts Trade Fair" (INACRAFT 2011) at the Jakarta Convention Center.
Present at the event were among others Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik, and Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo.
According to the vice president, could play an important role in the success of handicrafts export when the world’s economy in 2011 was facing a big challenge.
Vice President Boediono said that the world’s economy in 2011 was marked with difficulty, challenge, and uncertainty of financial and political condition. He said such a situation was experienced not only by the craftsmen in Indonesia but also those in other countries in all sectors.
"Therefore we should not complain about it but instead try to increase our export capability by improving our creativity," the vice president said.
