Indonesia's Exports to Japan Up 1.4 Pct


Indonesia’s exports to Japan rose slightly by 1.41 percent to US$2.71 billion in March from US$2.67 billion in February despite a massive earthquake and subsequent tsunami devastating northeast Japan on March 11.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s imports from Japan in March rose 16.69 percent to US$1.63 billion from a month earlier, Chief of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Rusman Heriawan said here on Monday.
Indonesia’s imports from Japan mainly consisted of capital goods including machinery/ mechanical appliances, electrical apparatuses and motor vehicles. The BPS chief said among the commodities whose exports to Japan fell were copper ore, coal, plywood, paper and paper products.
